The Colleton County Wrestling team went 2-0 in a tri-match at Bluffton High School on January 15. Also participating in the event was Colleton Prep Academy.

“We were without senior wrestler Terrence Calloway for the tri-match, but another senior India Wiford and freshman Peyton Grant filled in admirably, coming up with wins to help the team,” said Coach Jaques Glover. “The Bobcats were coming in with a lot of injuries, but we managed to still to pull away a win.

“I think the match of the night was in the 182-lb. division in a rematch from the May River Tournament earlier this season,” said Glover. “Colleton County’s Trequan Stokes and Colleton Prep’s Jackson Sims went head-to-head in a tight match that went into overtime tied at eight points. Trequan came close with a takedown, but Sims managed to get behind and score the takedown.”

The Cougar wrestlers were scheduled to travel to Hilton Head High School on Tuesday Jan. 21.
