Cougar Hoops fighting for at-large bid

The Colleton County Cougar Basketball team will be facing off against Aiken High School for the SCHSL AAAA Lower State At-Large playoff spot after a tie.

The Cougars were scheduled to travel to a neutral site at Airport High School to face Aiken High School on Monday, February 14. Should Colleton County earn the win in Monday evening’s game, they would claim the one remaining AAAA at-large playoff spot and face No. 1 seeded Wilson High School on Thursday, February 17 at 7 p.m. on the road.

Colleton County finished the regular season 6-14 overall and 2-10 in Region VII.

In Colleton County’s final regular season game versus Beaufort High School, the Cougars fell 67-44 on the road. Brian Hamilton led scoring with 13 points and Kijuan Footman added 12 points.

Beaufort was led by J. Dennison who scored 25 points.

Colleton County seniors Brian Hamilton and Deshaun Blocker were recently named All-Region VII-AAAA. Other region selections included James Dennison – Beaufort (Player of the Year); Braxton Scott – James Island; Michael Dennison – Beaufort; James Layman – May River; Malin Allard – Lucy Beckham; Karyce Campbell – Hilton Head; Zyrin Odom – Beaufort; and Gavin Blocker – May River.
