Cougar Baseball drops Beaufort series

The Colleton County Cougar varsity baseball team dropped a two-game series against Beaufort High School last week (16-4, 7-2). The Cougars are currently 6-11 overall and 3-7 in Region VII-AAAA.

At home on Tuesday, April 19, the Cougars fell 16-4 to the Eagles. Dakota Dandridge led things off on the hill for Colleton County, lasting one-third of an inning, allowing one hit and five runs while walking one. JC Poe threw three and two-thirds innings in relief. Warren Hunter was 2-2 with 2-RBIs at the plate. Preston Breland, JC Poe, Cam Farnsworth, and Cohen Crosby each collected a hit.

Beaufort’s Hudson Mullen was 3-4 with 4-RBIs in game.

Despite Colleton County outhitting Beaufort 10-7 in game two of the series, they could not pull out the win and fell 7-2 Wednesday April 20 on the road. Gabe Wolfe earned the start, surrendering seven runs on seven hits over five and two-thirds innings, striking out five. Cam Farnsworth threw one and one-third innings of relief. Josh Caldwell went 3-4 on the day and Grayson Cromer was 2-3. Preston Breland, Poe, Dustin Hadwin, Hunter, and Trey Simmons each recorded a hit.

Malcom Webb earned the win for the Eagles, allowing eight hits and two runs over five innings, striking out six and walking one. Davis Woods and Hudson Mullen had multiple hits in the game.

Colleton County has a two-game series against Region VII-AAAA opponent May River High School this week to finish out their regular season.
