Mr. JC Cook, 83, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Monday evening, May 13, 2024, at his residence. Born December 31, 1940, in Lodge, he was a son of the late John and Janie Cook. He served his country in the South Carolina Army National Guard. JC was a carpenter who spent most of his life building houses in Walterboro, Edisto and surrounding areas. In his later years he enjoyed making swings and farmhouse tables for many family and friends. He helped start and build Living Word Church in Walterboro. He was a member of Walterboro Church of God. Mr. JC enjoyed camping trips and fishing for many years and could always be found working in his yard or building something in his shop. He also enjoyed having fish fry’s and boiling peanuts with family and friends. Most of all, he loved his Lord and family and always enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving are: his wife of 63 years, Gail Lyons Cook; children, Robert Cook, Brenda Heape and her husband Kerry, Chris Cook, and Crystal Herrington and her husband Steve; daughter-in-law, Tammye Shearer Cook; grandchildren, Andrew Heape and his wife Julie, Bobby Cook, Benji Heape and his wife Amber, Ashley Mixson and her husband Seth, Cody Heape and his wife Katelyn, Summer Herrington-Carson and her husband Chris, Olivia Herrington-Ballew and her husband Tyler, Lauren Herrington, and Jax Herrington; 17 great grandchildren; and sister, Mary Helen Parkes. He was preceded in death by his brother Leroy Cook. Funeral services were held 1 o’clock, Thursday afternoon, May 16, 2024, at The Brice Herndon Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.
