The Colleton Prep War Hawk Baseball Program is under new, but remarkably familiar, leadership in the 2022 season. Coach Josh Craven was named to lead the program last year. Craven is himself a Colleton Prep graduate, where he was a five-year varsity letterman as a left-handed pitcher and outfielder for the War Hawks and was a member of the 2014 CPA War Hawk Baseball State Championship team. He also played football and was a member of the 2011 CPA SCISA Class A Football State Championship team.

In his senior year, Craven signed to play baseball at USC-Salkehatchie. Following his sophomore season, he continued his career at University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Arkansas in NCAA Division III in the American Southwest Conference.

Craven may have written his own future as he stated in a February 2015 interview, he hoped to one day come “home” to Colleton Prep where he would like to coach baseball, football, and basketball. “I am proud of the opportunity to lead the baseball program at Colleton Prep Academy,” said Craven. “I would like to thank Greg Langdale, Jill Griffin Burttram, and the Board of Directors for the opportunity. I have always wanted to come back and coach at my alma mater, and it is an honor being able to do so.”

With a young team, Craven looks to have his work cut out for him in year one, but rest assured, he is up for the challenge.

The War Hawks are currently 1-5 overall and 0-3 in SCISA Region IV-AA.

The War Hawks only win so far came against Calhoun Academy (7-3) on Friday, March 4. Colleton Prep recorded losses against Hilton Head Prep (15-2), Dorchester Academy (12-5), Hilton Head Christian (14-10), Thomas Heyward Academy (13-3), and Northwoods Academy (9-3).
