A St. George man was critically injured in a head-on collision on Augusta Hwy. near Mars Old Field Road Monday evening November 18th. His Kia Soul collided with a full-sized Dodge pickup truck, causing heavy damage to both vehicles. The Soul then went down an embankment and overturned. Bystanders pulled the injured man who was wearing a seatbelt from the small car. He was semi-conscious and suffered multiple traumatic injuries. Colleton County Firefighter-Paramedics treated the man at the scene and requested a medical helicopter. CARE Flight flew the patient to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center. The driver of the pickup truck denied treatment at the scene. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
