The number of people in Colleton County who are getting vaccinated against COVID-19 is increasing.

According to the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC), there are 10,091 residents in Colleton County who have now been completely vaccinated. This means that they have received both of the 2-part vaccine.

There are 32,259 people living in Colleton County who are eligible to receive the vaccine. Those who are eligible are age 12 and older.

In nearby Charleston County, 169,594 people are fully vaccinated versus 346,384 people are eligible to be vaccinated in Charleston County.

Dorchester County currently has 47,912 residents fully vaccinated: there are 132,800 people in Dorchester County who are eligible to be vaccinated.

In Hampton County, there are 6,108 residents who are vaccinated versus 16,816 Hampton County residents who are eligible for the vaccine.

Statewide, about 44.9 percent of all South Carolina residents have had at least one vaccine, with 37 percent of all South Carolina residents being fully vaccinated, according to DHEC.

As of June 2nd, there are no new reported cases of COVID-19 in the Colleton County School District. This includes staff and students, according to the Colleton County School District.

In South Carolina, there are 71 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed statewide during the last week. This brings the total of COVID-19 cases in South Carolina to 491,937 since the pandemic began in 2020.
