Colleton County Sheriff’s Office hosts CCSO Cadet Post #843 Banquet

Posted

The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office Cadet Post #843 is a part of the National Public Safety Cadet Program. The program is open to young adults 14-20 years of age interested in a career in law enforcement. Cadets are trained by Law Enforcement Officers in current law to allow them to handle incidents that law enforcement officers are exposed to during their tour of duty. Cadets compete with other Cadet posts from across the State of South Carolina. During these competitions, cadets are tested on their knowledge through written tests and practical evaluations.

The goals of the program are to help youth to choose a career that could lead to law enforcement and to challenge them to become responsible citizens within the community.

Current advisors are Lt. Ricky Valentine, Sgt. Phillip Cole, Deputy Christopher Vandermark and Deputy Ciara Clark. The guest speaker at the event was Detective Laura Rutland also of the CCSO.

The following are the awards and recognition given at the banquet:

Promotion to the rank:

Cadet Cpl. Conner Leibach

Cadet Sgt. Jamile Collins

Cadet Captain Levi Sightler

Cadet of the Year:

Cadet Captain Levi Sightler

Cadet Sighter became a part of the program in 2022.

The banquet was well attended by members of the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office, members of the Cadet program, and proud family members.
