Colleton County covid update

 The Colleton Health Department began offering first dose vaccination clinics on March 24th, 2021, with those clinics lasting from 7:30 a.m. until 7:15 p.m. 

There will be a corresponding second dose clinic 28 days following each first dose clinic. Individuals who want to sign up for this clinic can do so by going to https://cvas.dhec.sc.gov or you can see all available vaccination appointments at www.scdhec.gov/vaxlocator.

Individuals in Phase 1B can make vaccine appointments.

This phase includes all South Carolina residents aged 55 and older; individuals with increased risk for severe COVID-19 disease; frontline workers with increased occupational risk; individuals at increased risk in settings where people are living and working in close contact and all workers in health care and community health settings who have routine; and people who have direct patient contact and who were not vaccinated in Phase 1A of the state’s vaccination plan. 

Walgreens, located at 1326 N. Jefferies Blvd. in Walterboro, is now providing vaccines for individuals aged 55 and older and Phase 1B. You can register with Walgreens at the following URL: https://www.walgreens.com/findcare/vaccination/covid-19.

Additionally, CVS in Walterboro, located at 555 Robertson Blvd., is also providing vaccines for individuals aged 55 and older and Phase 1B.

Also, Walterboro Pharmacy LLC and Walterboro Family Care are providing vaccinations.

Walterboro Family Care is located at 457 Spruce St. You can register for a vaccine appointment by calling their office at 843-781-7428. 

Colleton residents can also continue to track vaccination sites at https://www.scdhec.gov/vaxlocator. 

According to Megan Utsey with Colleton County, local officials have been notified of 2,501 total cases of COVID-19 in Colleton County since the pandemic began. 

Of these, 66 are current cases in the county. 

These cases of COVID-19 are in the 29435, 29446, 29452, 29474, 29481, 29488, 29929 and 29945 ZIP codes. 

Unfortunately, there have been a total of 101 deaths in Colleton County related to COVID-19, she said. 

Colleton County residents are urged to follow the guidance of Governor McMaster and the recommendations of the CDC, including wearing a mask in public and socially-distancing yourself from others.
