The Colleton County Clemson Club announced recipients for the 2019-2020 scholarships.

Elizabeth Marie Mclaughlin, daughter of Trina McLaughlin, is a Clemson University freshman majoring in general engineering. She is grateful for the scholarship and thanks the club for the financial assistance so she may focus more on her studies.

James McTeer Bunton, son of Jamie and Jennifer Bunton, is freshman at Clemson majoring in general engineering. Bunton also performs with the Tiger Band. He said this scholarship helps to make his learning experience more accessible and extends his learning opportunities while at Clemson.

Also, Jade Alexis Briaud, daughter of Pascal Briaud and Phyllis Briaud, is a freshman majoring in animal and veterinary sciences at Clemson University. She is grateful for the scholarship because it has allowed her to focus on her goals and pursue her passions.

Approximately 150 Colleton Clemson families are members of the club and financially support local students attending Clemson University. This year, the club’s November golf tournament, joint Clemson vs. Carolina Oyster Roast hosted by the Colleton County Historical and Preservation Society, a signed Dabo Swinney football raffle and successful membership drive provided funding for three $1,000 scholarships. Also, the addition of the Edisto Chapter of the Colleton Club, now in its second year of establishment, has helped increased membership and provides viewing parties and social events for club members on the beach-side of Colleton.
