City of Walterboro Hires New Director of Tourism and Downtown Development

PRESS RELEASE - Scott Grooms began work as the City of Walterboro’s new Director of Tourism and Dowwntown Development on Monday, September 12th. Since 2007, Mr. Grooms served as the Director of Broadcast Services for Beaufort County Broadcast Services and was a Producer/Director and an on-air personality for SCETV from 2000-2007. Mr. Grooms is a graduate of Winthrop University and Colleton Preparatory Academy (formerly John C. Calhoun Academy) and is active in many local organizations including the Colleton County Rice Festival, the Colleton County Arts Council, and the Colleton County Historical and Preservation Society. “I was born and raised in Walterboro, and I look forward to working at the city to explore new possibilities for the Downtown Area and Wildlife Center/Amphitheater.” City Manager Jeff Molinari, “I am very much looking forward to working with Scott. He brings a lot of great experience to the table that will be ideal for this position, especially with promoting events at the Walterboro Wildlife Center and leading the City’s downtown redevelopment initiatives.”
