City encourages caution on Halloween

While the City of Walterboro is not banning trick-or-treating this year, those who venture out or give out candy on Halloween are asked to be careful.
The CDC considers traditional door-to-door trick-or-treating to be a “higher risk activity” for the spread of the virus that causes COVID-19. Those who are going to trick-or-treat or pass out candy on Halloween should exercise caution and be safe.
The CDC has these suggestions for giving out treats more safely:
• Avoid direct contact with the kids
• Give the treats outdoors
• Set up a station with individually bagged treats
• Wash hands frequently and bring hand sanitizer
• Wear a CDC-approved face mask.
