Mr. James Julius Chestnut, 79, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Saturday morning, May 24, 2025, at Lowcountry Community Hospice House in Summerville. Born January 17, 1946, in Charleston, he was a son of the late Henry Julius Chestnut and Thelma Oliver. He was a retired long-distance driver for BW Mitchum Trucking. His lifelong passion was deer hunting and he enjoyed truck driving. Surviving are: his sons, Jimmy J. Chestnut and Stacey R. Chestnut, both of Johns Island; his sons’ mother, Velma Dew Martin; grandchildren, Jessica Craven, Andrew Chestnut, and Nicole Chestnut; great grandchildren, Savannah Rose Tucker, Jackson Craven, Bentley Craven, and Reagan Craven; and two sisters, Dotty Jeffcoat and Susan Austin. Funeral services were held 11 o’clock, Saturday morning, May 31, 2025, at The Brice Herndon Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment followed in Breland Cemetery in Holly Hill.
