May 23, 2023 Walterboro was treated to a free professional production of the pirate classic Treasure Island by Robert Lewis Stevenson. The event took place at the amphitheater at the Wildlife Center and was met with enthusiasm by audience members of all ages. The adaptation is part of the Charleston Stage’s free CityStage Community Tour. The goal of CityStage “is to expand the work and mission of Charleston Stage beyond the walls of the Dock Street Theatre”. In addition to the professional troupe members, the opening act was performed by Walterboro’s own Colleton Children’s Theatre in keeping with CityStage’s goal of being “true community partners”.
