The Walterboro-Colleton Chamber of Commerce has a new leader.

Mark Wysong, 50, of Walterboro, is now the president of the chamber. Wysong was appointed to the position by the chamber’s Board of Directors, which unanimously voted him into the role. This vote by the chamber board occurred after the chamber’s former longtime president, Jeremy Ware, resigned from his role, effective Dec. 31st of 2021.

Wysong became president of the chamber on Jan. 1st of 2022.

“The chamber has been at a standstill, mostly because of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, we are now looking to the future, and will be launching new and exciting initiatives that are bound to help our current chamber members prosper and bring enthusiasm back to our business community,” said Wysong. “We want the chamber and its businesses to actually benefit from being a part of our chamber, and we want to make the city and the county prosper,” he said. “In the very near future, there will be more value linked to being a part of the chamber and we want our community to thrive.”

Wysong is a business owner in the community. He owns several car washes and laundry mats, all of which are located throughout the City of Walterboro.

As part of his leadership launch, Wysong and the board will be making changes to the chambers’ existing membership regulations. More information on these changes will be forthcoming.
