Colleton County School District held its Annual Spelling Bee Thursday, January 19th at Colleton County High School Preforming Arts Center. There were 12 participants and 6 alternates representing our elementary and middle schools. The event was hosted by the Office of Curriculum and Instruction as part of The Scripps National Spelling Bee Program. Dr. Vallerie Cave, Superintendent, welcomed students, staff and families to the Bee that was judged by Ms. Latosia Gibson, 4-H Youth Development Agent from South Carolina State University, Ms. Kelly Majuri, Dual Enrollment Academic Coordinator from the Technical College of the Lowcountry and Dr. Brandon J. Wright, Assistant Dean from the University of South Carolina – Salkehatchie. Mrs. Lydia Culler, 6-12 Grades ELA Content Specialist served as the pronouncer. Please join us in congratulating the winners of the Colleton County School District Spelling Bee: Dalton Litchfield - Colleton County Middle School, 1st Place and Malia Green - Cottageville Elementary School 2nd Place Dalton will represent the Colleton County School District at the Regional Spelling Bee to be held March 9th at Charleston Southern University.
