CCMS Baseball team defeated River Ridge Academy

The CCMS Baseball team defeated River Ridge Academy 9-1 to capture the program’s first Lowcountry Athletic League Championship. River Ridge scored their lone run on a RBI double in the first inning. CCMS evened the score in the bottom of the second on an RBI by Banks Hogan, scoring Trip Norris. The Cougars pulled ahead in the bottom of the third, when Norris was hit by a pitch, scoring Michael Witkin. CCMS would begin pouring it on as the rains began to come, with RBI’s by Charlie Walker, Mari Brown, Galil Frazier, Bentley Hiers, and Norris. Michael Witkin picked up the win for the Cougars, pitching 5 innings, striking out 7 and allowing one run. The Cougars were led offensively by Witkin and Charlie Walker who recorded multiple hits, and Frazier, Jacob Singleton, Hiers, and Brown, each recording hits. The championship game capped off an amazing season by the Cougars, who finished league play 9-0-1. Colleton County gave up only 8 runs through 10 league games on the season, while scoring 119 runs and recording 3 shutouts.
