The Colleton County Cougars hosted a pre-season volleyball tournament at CCHS and CCMS. These pre-season games gave the coaches an opportunity to evaluate the players before their season starts and identify areas of play the team needs to improve on.

Coach Hannah Perritte was pleased with the way the Cougars played. She stated, “We really played well today, overall. I am very pleased with the effort the girls gave today. We ended up winning the silver bracket of the tournament.”

The Cougars finished the day going 2-1 in pool play, defeating Bridge Prep and Battery Creek while losing to eventual tournament champions, John Paul. The Cougars then defeated Well Branch, Thomas Heyward, and Beaufort for the championship.

“Bailey Cox was probably our most consistent defensive player of the day, while Carlie Erwin led the day offensively with several kills. Hannah Bunton’s defense at the net was perfect, and she had a lot of blocks. Ashlyn Sarvis was our center, and played extremely well all day. We really raised the bar today in hopes of having a successful season,” Perritte reported. “I was also pleased with the amount of people who attended the tournament.”

The first match of the year will be held August 30th, at Goose Creek.
