The Colleton County Wrestling team traveled to James Island last week in a dual match. The Cougars won in the 160 lb. class as Kadaries Ford won his match by a pin. The final score of the match was 72-5 in favor of James Island. “The inexperience of our team showed last night but they are battling hard. I’m looking for them to bounce back stronger in their next match. I believe in all these amazing young athletes that have given so much to our program, “stated Head Coach Jaques Glover.

The Colleton County basketball teams continue to struggle in region play. The Lady Cougars dropped decisions to Bluffton 36-17 and Lucy Beckman 47-39. The Cougars led against Lucy Beckman 31-25 at half-time; however, Lucy Beckman outscored the Cougars 24-12 to secure the win. The Cougars were led by Makayla Chisolm with 16 points while Shandi Brown would add 10 points and Ma’kayla Brown would add 7 points. The Lady Cougars record falls to 1-4 in region play and an overall record of 4-14.

The CCHS boys dropped two close region games as they lost to Bluffton in a heart breaker 55-53 and then dropped a decision to Lucy Beckman by a score of 70-60. The Cougars led at the half 32-26. Lucy Beckman took the lead at the end of the third period 51-50 and then held off the Cougars in the fourth quarter. With the two losses, the Cougars record now stands at 0-5 in the region and 6-12 overall.
