Colleton County High School Athletic Director Wayne Alston announced via a Facebook LIVE feed on the CCHS Athletics page Monday June 29 that summer conditioning and workouts would be postponed until further notice and effective immediately.

“Today we had a conversation with the school and district administration and a decision was made to postpone workouts,” said Alston. “We were going into our second week of workouts and having really good success getting students out, with over 30 students per day participating. We were excited about what was going on, but because of the rising number of cases and statewide trend where districts are postponing workouts until further notice, we made the decision.

“In about two weeks we will sit down with school and district administration and talk about what the next step is moving forward,” said Alston. “I want to thank all the athletes who have been going on Planet HS and completing their paperwork and getting their waivers signed to participate. We had many students coming out with their masks and water bottles ready to work out. Everyone has been understanding and ready to comply with us. Hopefully, we’ll be playing athletics in the fall, and we are excited about the potential.”
