CCHS girls split region games

The Colleton County Girls’ Basketball team split a pair of region games last week. The Cougars dropped a 67-30 region loss to James Island before rebounding to defeat Mae River 48-46. The Cougars record in the region now stands at 1-2.

James Island used a strong second quarter to outscore the Cougars 26-6 to take a commanding lead at halftime 43-15 and cruise to a victory with the final score being 67-30. Leading the Cougars in scoring were Shandi Brown with 10 points followed by Makayla Chisolm with nine points and Ma’Kayla Brown contributing five points.

Colleton County and Mae River played on even terms in the first half with the Cougars trailing by a score of 25-24. The Cougars used a solid third quarter to lead 42-29 entering the fourth quarter. The Cougars would then hold off a furious rally by the Sharks to win the game 48-46.

The Cougars were led in scoring by Heaven Green and Makayla Chisolm with 13 points each while Xiomara Oxner with 10 points and Ma’Kayla Brown with nine points.
