CCHS girls improved record, boys are 3-1

The Colleton County girls basketball team improved its record to 2-3 with a pair of wins last week. The Lady Cougars defeated Palmetto Scholars 53-35 to earn their first win of the season. They then defeated Woodland High on Friday 62-52.

The Lady Cougars were scheduled to travel to Ashley Ridge on Monday, Beaufort on Wednesday and Woodland on Friday.

The Colleton County boys ran their record to 3-1 last week. The Cougars defeated St. Johns Christian Academy, 79-74. The Cougars lead throughout the contest and held a 60-41 lead going into the fourth quarter and then held off a St. Johns rally to win the game.

The Cougars were led by Amauri Sanders and Nick Williams each scoring 19 points.

The Cougars defeated Palmetto Scholars 85-55 on Tuesday. The Cougars got 21 points from Mykeem Gant, Brian Hamilton with 11 points and Amauri Sanders with 12 points.

In the home opener, the Cougars defeated Palmetto Scholars, 83-43. Amauri Sanders led the scoring with 19 points followed by Nick Williams with 14, Brian Hamilton with 13 and Da’veon Varner with 12 points.

The Cougars suffered its first loss of the season to Woodland High on Friday by a score of 66-60. Woodland used a strong second quarter to lead 37-25 at half-time. The Wolverines increased its lead to 54-36 to start the fourth quarter. The Cougars rallied in the fourth quarter but could not over take the Wolverines.

The Cougars were scheduled to play away this week against Ashley Ridge on Monday, Beaufort on Wednesday and Woodland on Friday.
