A group of band students at Colleton County High School has brought home a big band win for the Colleton community.
The high school band’s Winter Percussion group won the 2022 Carolina Winter Ensemble Association Percussion Championship. The competition was held recently on April 2nd.
According to Colleton County High School Band of Blue Director Tom Finigan – Colleton County High School’s Band is referred to as the Band of Blue – the local band members scored a 92.95 and took first place. “This is the second CWEA Percussion title for Colleton County,” said Finigan. “The Band of Blue Drumline won in 2019 … we are BIG BLUE!”
Colleton County competed against 12 high schools in North and South Carolina. In all, approximately 30 students from Colleton County participate in the percussionist ensemble within the Colleton County High School Band of Blue. These students are from Colleton County High School and Colleton County Middle School.
