WALTERBORO:     Mr. Lucas McCollin “Mac” Carter, husband of Pressie Leal Carter, passed away Saturday morning, March 8, 2025 at Roper Hospital in Charleston at the age of 80.  He was born in Colleton County November 25, 1944 a son of the late Lucas C. Carter and Emily Garvin Carter.  Mac spent his career as a plantation manager and farmer.  He was an avid outdoorsman who loved spending time in the woods and swamps of the Lowcountry…especially hunting deer off horseback.  He was a lifelong member of Ebenezer Methodist Church, and was a devoted husband, brother, and brother-in-law who cherished his family and friends.   In addition to his wife of forty years, he is survived by his siblings Lee Carter (Ann), Marie C. Hoats, Elizabeth C. Pellum (Harry) and Joyce C. Dopson.  He leaves behind his sisters-in-law Marcela L. Baker, Manuella L. Plante (Luc), Sally L. Plover (Robert), Irene L. Craven, and Marianne L. Holmes (Don).  He is also survived by nieces and nephews Scott and Shannon Pellum, Carol and Randy Hoats, Christy Vorhis, Marissa Little, Kimbee Strickfaden, and Hunter Carter.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother George Leonard Carter.   Graveside services will be held Wednesday afternoon, March 12, 2025 at 2:00 at the Ebenezer Methodist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Mac to Ebenezer Methodist Church, or to the charity of one’s choice.  Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
