Cancer survivors can soon come together and celebrate as part of the Colleton community’s annual Survivor’s Dinner.

The dinner is scheduled for May 19th at 6 p.m. at Faith Walterboro Church. The dinner is being sponsored by Casey Shoupe and the Old House Café in Walterboro.

Anyone interested in attending the Survivor’s Dinner should register by calling 1-800-227-2345 or by going to RelayForLife.org/ColletonSC.

“We want to celebrate our cancer survivors!” said Jessica Cartrette, organizer for this year’s Colleton County Relay For Life and Survivor’s Dinner.

The Survivor’s Dinner is a precursor to the big community event called Relay for Life. This year, Relay for Life will occur on June 3rd from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Walterboro Wildlife Center and the city’s outdoor amphitheater.

“We will hold a full-event, with team tents and carnival games and activities,” said Cartrette.

The luminary service is also included in this year’s event.

“We are also holding a Blood Connection blood drive in cooperation with our Relay for Life,” she said. “Each person who donates blood will generate a donation from the Blood Connection to the Relay for Life.”

According to Cartrette, the Colleton County community has already raised $2,824.76 toward its $50,000 goal. There are currently nine teams registered to participate in the upcoming Relay for Life.

Members of the Colleton County community can attend this free event and participate in events.
