Duke Buckner is the only candidate from Colleton County running for the 6th Congressional District in the U.S. Congress, a seat that is highly-contested and will be on the November ballot.
Buckner is running for the national office because he wants to bring jobs, pride and prosperity back to Colleton County, he said. He is also focused on improving the way of life along the entire Interstate 95 corridor, he said.
Recently, Buckner, who is a Walterboro native and Walterboro attorney, opened his campaign headquarters in Orangeburg. The grand opening was met with a standing-room only crowd, he said.
Buckner is running as a Republican in the partisan election. He is facing several democratic opponents, including the longtime incumbent Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-Orangeburg).
“I am in this fight because I love and care about our country. And if you believe in America; that we are the land of the free and the home of the brave then let’s roll!” said Buckner.
