Blood drive collects 57 pints

A blood drive was held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on March 9, collecting 57 pints of blood.

The event brought 65 donors to help the community by giving blood including: Robin Moore, Kevin Wicker, Perry Ramsey, Ashley Amundson, Jessica Goodwin, William Snead, Diane Biering, Fran Mack, Eddie Bonds, Tim Wilson, Stacey Thomas, Mike Kuszmaul, Terry Griffin, Carroll Griffin, Margaret Brown, Richard Berry, Annette Harley, Travis Godley, Arlene Cassedy, Gary Hermann, Mary Howe, Gerald Ferguson, Marilyn Peters, Sandy Carroll, Anthony Colleton, Doris Nettles, Bucky McCormack (six gallons), John Merrell, Rebecca Carson, Angel Valentine, Kida Sally, Diane Wicker, Leon Bryan, Michael Marshall, Laura Bullock, Alta Mae Marvin, Leila Williams, Lawrence Smalls, Crystal Phillips Michael DeLonge, Ernest Canaday, Jeanette Smith, Summer White, Scotty Kinard, Robert Smith, Jarvis Craven, Hank Amundson, Nancy Lachicotte, Payton Webster, Celeste Stone, Konia Haynes, Bridgett Carson, Alexander Crosby, Vicki Syfrett, Richard Johnston, Kristina Moore, Paula Beverly, Hope Hipp, Linda Clark, Nick Olena, Sherri Watson, Douglas Brinson Brittney Bonner, Prashantkumar Patel and Norma Weeks (22 gallons).

“I have a message for anyone who is too afraid of needles to give blood. I am a grandmother, and I don’t like needles either,” said blood drive coordinator Norma Weeks. “I have given 22 gallons, which means I have been stuck 176 times. All you will feel is a small sting, but before you can even say ‘ouch,’ it is over. Come and give us a chance.”
