PRESS RLEASE. Attorney Maryann Blake is a recipient of the James E. Clyburn Political Fellowship for 2021. Blake was chosen from a strong statewide candidate pool to be a participant in the program, which will hold graduation ceremonies this spring. The Clyburn Fellowship was created to train the next generation of political leaders in the S.C. Democratic Party. The highly competitive fellowship seeks persons interested in enhancing their leadership and political skills to better serve their communities locally and statewide.

During September through December, the fellowship met for intensive two-day seminars facilitated by national and state leaders to provide in depth knowledge of the political process. The curriculum examined the challenges of leadership and the qualities of leadership necessary to master the forces of change through politics.

“I am deeply honored to have been chosen to participate in the Clyburn Political Fellowship,” said Blake. “I learned from Congressman Clyburn and others that public service is a public trust of the highest level. It encompasses a moral responsibility to govern.”

The Fellowship is named for Congressman James E. Clyburn.

Congressman Clyburn is Majority Whip in the United State House of Representatives, the third-ranking democrat in leadership.
