Mrs. Betty Triplett Barbour, wife for 59 years of the late Levi Butler Barbour Sr., and mother of the late Levi Butler Barbour Jr., Sandra Lee Barbour, and Edward Coleman Barbour, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, December 14, 2021 at her home in Walterboro under hospice care.  She was 93.  

Mrs. Betty was born Mooresville, NC January 15, 1928 a daughter of the late James Jake Triplett and Effie Baxter Triplett.  For many years, she and her late husband owned and operated The Walterboro Bakery, a well-known fixture of the community on Lucas Street.  Her husband was a United States Marine Corps survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor, and for many years they were active in the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association.  She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.  

In addition to her parents, her husband, and her three children, Mrs. Betty was preceded in death by her brother, James B. Triplett, and by her sister Nancy Triplett O’Briant.  She is survived by two nieces, Nancy O'Briant Hull and Laura Susan Watterson (Earl), a nephew, Donald O'Briant Jr., as well as a host of great, great-great, and great-great-great nieces, nephews and extended family. She leaves behind a devoted caregiver of five years, Elizabeth Gaiton.  Although she experienced a great deal of loss during her life, Mrs. Betty remained steadfast in her faith with the confidence that she would see her family again in heaven, and she is now enjoying that glorious reunion.  

Graveside services will be held Thursday, December 23, 2021 at 11:00 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Walterboro.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 355 Hampton Street, Walterboro, SC 29488, or to the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association at pearlharborsurvivorsonline.org.  Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
