Two people were injured and one driver was trapped in a three-car wreck at the intersection of Bells Highway (S.C. Hwy. 64) and Doctors Creek Road on Friday May 8 at 12:50 p.m.
A westbound vehicle struck the rear of a Chevrolet Corsica also traveling westbound, pushing it head-on into a Nissan Rogue SUV turning onto Bells Highway.
The female driver of the Rogue received non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Corsica was trapped in his vehicle and received multiple, non-life threatening traumatic injuries. The driver of the Impala was not injured.
Firefighter-Paramedics treated the patients at the scene and during the extrication. Crews used hydraulic rescue tools to remove the driver’s side doors and “B” post to safely extricate the man. He and the female driver of the Rogue were transported to Colleton Medical Center by Fire-Rescue.
Traffic on Bells Highway was detoured onto Doctors Creek Road for an hour until the damaged vehicles could be removed from the scene.
The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
