The Colleton County Arts Council is pleased to bring “Spring Sing” to Walterboro for its 10th annual spring convention and finals. The performances are sponsored by the Carolinas District of the Barbershop Harmony Society.

The Barbershop Quartet Championship Finals and Show of Champions will be held on Saturday, April 2nd at 8:00 p.m. at the Colleton Center on Hampton Street.

GQ will be featured performers on the Saturday evening showcase, as well as serving as coaches during the weekend.

Tickets are available at the door for $25, and guests must present a Covid vaccination card or negative test within 72 hours for entry.

The Carolinas District has been committed to supporting the Barbershop Harmony Society’s aim of preserving, encouraging, and perpetuating the traditional American art form of singing in four-part Barbershop harmony style for many years.

The convention gives different groups from the Carolinas the opportunity to showcase their music.

The main activities for the weekend will be qualifying contests for both choruses and quartets. The quartet contests start Friday evening with the qualifier semi-finals. Saturday will include the contest to determine if the district will have additional chorus representatives for the 2022 International convention in Charlotte as well as the representative to the 2023 International convention in Louisville. Saturday evening will conclude with the quartet qualification finals for Charlotte and the spectacular showcase featuring GQ and the top competitors from the weekend. Youth quartets and choruses are also eligible to compete for District titles.

The Spring Sing will bring competitors and family, audience, judges, district and international officials from BHS (Barbershop Harmony Society), to Walterboro from all over the south and across the country.

The Colleton County Arts council has partnered with the Carolinas District to bring this event to Walterboro.

The Arts Council will be providing space, printing services and general support through its volunteers to the Carolinas District in addition to its sponsorship of the event.

The Arts Council will showcase the facilities at the Colleton Civic Center, SC Artisan Center and Walterboro Wildlife Center to a wide new audience, and to introduce a unique art form to residents of Colleton County.
