The Band of Blue Varsity and JV Winter Guards had outstanding performances this past weekend at the 2025 Carolina Winter Ensemble Association Chapin Guard Regional, February 22, at Chapin High School.
The Band of Blue JV Winter Guard won 1st place in the Scholastic Regional A Division scoring 80.64, with the JV placing ahead of 15 other teams. The JV Winter Guard’s show is entitled “Come in from the Rain” with clouds and umbrella props with blue raindrop uniforms.
The Band of Blue Varsity Winter Guard scored a 67.86 and placed 1st in their round of 8 and 3rd overall out of 16 total guards in the Scholastic AAA division. The Varsity Winter Guard’s show is entitled “A Night to Remember” and portrays the story of the HMS Titanic and its sinking.
Both groups were amongst 54 other teams from SC, NC and Georgia. The Band of Blue Winter Guard program has a total of 35 middle and high school performers.
CCHS Varsity Winter Guard Captains are Tibbie Walling, Giselle Cortez and Shannon Smoak. CCHS JV Winter Guard Captains are Lilliana Nava and Emma Fitch.
The Band of Blue guard instructors are Mr. Jason Johnson, Mrs. Cathy Meshach with assistance from Ms. Lilly Boyert, Ms. Taylor Fussell, Ms. Joelle Glapinski, Mr. Anthony Crimely and Mr. Cody Dalton.
