An outdoor utility building was destroyed in a late evening fire at 1083 Backfield Road Tuesday April 14. At 11:56 p.m. Fire-Rescue units responded to find the 20x30-foot building fully involved. The roof had already collapsed prior to arrival. Firefighters laid 300 feet of supply hose down the driveway and one hose to extinguish the fire. Tenders pumped water supply to Engine 30 from the roadway. Crews removed the remainder of the metal roof from the slightly elevated structure and performed overhaul for 1-1/2 hours. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
