A fire on the stove caused heavy damage to the kitchen in a single-wide mobile home at 11510 Augusta Highway on Sunday Jan. 3 at 1:04 p.m. The fire started on the stove and spread to the cabinets, but the homeowner was able to control the fire with a garden hose until Fire-Rescue arrived. Firefighters contained the fire to the area of the kitchen, but the rest of the home suffered smoke damage. The Red Cross is assisting the family. No injuries were reported in the incident.
