Walterboro City Council held its Regular Meeting on Tuesday, April 1st. Under Old Business, City Council gave second and final reading of an ordinance to annex 873 Robertson Boulevard into the City of Walterboro and an ordinance to amend Chapter 14, Article III, Section (b) (5), Nuisances, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Walterboro.
Under New Business, City Council approved an ordinance to rezone a parcel of land on Moore Street from Industrial District (ID) to High Density Residential (HDR.) A resolution was passed designating April 2025 Fair Housing Month and approval of an annual non-discrimination policy.
Also under New Business, City Council approved a proclamation designating April 2025 as Child Abuse Prevention Month in the City of Walterboro and a proclamation designating April and May 2025 as Keep Walterboro Beautiful/Great American Cleanup Month. A parade request for Juneteenth on June 21 at 10:00 AM, use of the city parking lot and use of the Waterfall Plaza for a candlelight vigil for The Charleston 9 were approved. Walterboro Main Steet Manager/Tourism Director, Patricia Utsey was recommended by Mayor Bill Young to serve on the Colleton County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
