Deputies with the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office are investigating an attempted murder that occurred on August 9th in Round O, and local authorities have a suspect identified in the case.
According to a sheriff’s office incident report, several people were sitting inside their car parked in the driveway of a Cabinet Way house in Round O when a gold-colored car drove past the house. The driver of that car began firing a gun: when the victims reported the crime, they only described the driver as being a black man, and no other details on the suspect were given.
No one was injured in this shooting. The suspect’s car is described as a 2004 Gold Mercury Grand Marquis, according to the incident report.
The victim, in this case, refused to press charges against the suspect, and the victim also did not cooperate with authorities. However, deputies responding to the shooting spotted the suspect’s vehicle – a 2004 Gold Mercury Grand Marquis – and a car chase ensued.
The driver of the vehicle and the shooting suspect is identified as Ranardo Huggins of Walterboro. He led deputies on a brief car chase that ended on Ritter Road when he crashed his car. Huggins then fled into a patch of nearby woods in that area, according to Shalane Lowes, spokeswoman for the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office. A warrant was issued for Huggins for Failure to Stop for Blue Lights.
