Mr. Alvah Anderson "Andy" Speights passed away Sunday morning, May 3, 2020 at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro. He was 75.

Andy was born Sept. 16, 1944 in Colleton County, a son of the late James Raymond Speights, Sr. and Susan Matilda Speights. He was a self-employed musician all of his life and loved his music, both writing and performing it live.  He was accomplished in playing the guitar, but his main love was playing the harmonica.  Andy could play the harmonica in a way that rivaled the best professional musicians on Music Row.

Andy was also an animal lover and he loved his dog Tilly, with all his heart and soul…Tilly meant the world to him. He loved being on the water, especially the river, crabbing and shrimping.  His boat, other than his guitar and harmonica, was his prized possession.

Andy was loved by many friends, but most of all his family. He leaves behind a brother, James Raymond Speights Jr. (Carolyn), a sister Julia Speights Hewett (Douglas), a niece Ginny Speights Forney (Gene), two nephews, Lamar Hewett and Jimmy Speights, and three children, Shawn Speights, Brett Speights and Brian Speights.

A public celebration of Andy's life will be held at a later date, after the current situation with the coronavirus pandemic improves.   Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
