A Prepared People

Posted

Are you reading the Bible through with me? Grab your pen and journal, and get ready to write your thoughts as you journey through the Bible.

Today read Joshua chapters 1-3. What rich passages!

Take special notice of Rahab in chapter 2, verses 8-21. Next, read Matthew 1:5. Whenever you feel too sinful or not good enough to worship the Lord, let me remind you that the prostitute Rahab changed her life, worshiped the God of the Israelites and eventually became an ancestor of Jesus.

Look at Joshua 3:5. That is my favorite verse out of these passages. Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, because the Lord will do wonders among you tomorrow!”

The word ‘consecrate’ means “to set apart as sacred or holy.” Joshua told the people to clean up their lives, get rid of sinful behavior, pray to God and prepare themselves for worship.

What if we did the same every day? What if we all prepared for worship by asking Jesus to forgive our sinful behavior, humbled ourselves, submitted to the will of God, purified ourselves by giving up whatever in our lives that displeases Him, and stopped with our grudges and hatred?

Could it be that we would see wonders occur among us? Where are the miraculous signs and wonders?

They are waiting for people to prepare themselves.

In your journal, write what you need to do to prepare yourself for wonders and miracles in your life. Remember to include steps necessary to rid yourself of sin, grudges and hatred, and to humble yourself and be submissive to Jesus.

PRAY: Lord, help me to not take worship lightly, and when I have the opportunity to be a part of worship with others, remind me to prepare myself to worship You in spirit and truth. Help me to become more disciplined in humbling myself, confessing and repenting of my sins, and submitting to Your will for my life.
