The Town of Cottageville has welcomed an authentic beer garden next door to Red Brick Pizza on Highway 17.
The Cypress Patio German Biergarten opened to crowds on Friday, June 11. Owned by Dave and Heike Stanfield, the beer garden is unique and the only one of its kind anywhere.
“My wife, Heike is German,” said Dave Stanfield. “When we met in Germany, we saw many biergartens like this one. I know my wife misses Germany, and so I wanted to build her something that would remind her of home.”
Cypress Patio Biergarten is owned by the Stanfields who also are proprietors of Red Brick Pizza take out. The open air biergarten patio is surrounded by wooden walls and floors with shade tree canopies over the diners. The garden is strung with lights and a large fountain sits in the center. The shade trees have blooming flowers and plants. At one end is a metal canopy for bands that come and play on the weekend evenings along with karaoke. Happy hour is from 6:00 until 7:00. p.m.
The servers are friendly and dressed in traditional German costumes complete with lederhosen, as German folk songs and polka songs make up the background music. A special is served every day at the Cypress Patio or diners can order from the Red Brick menu. Prices are very reasonable.
Diner Gregory Blankenship loved the biergarten experience. “This is amazing. It is beautiful here and the place looks great with all the trees overhead,” he said.
Brittany Pye is the manager, and the wait staff is comprised of Ashley Hunter, Kristy Warren, and Justin Hunter.
