35th Annual Colleton Baptist Association Christmas Project

About 32 churches joined forces with several local businesses and the Ace Basin Abate to present the 35th Annual Colleton Baptist Association Christmas Project, which donated toys and food to Colleton kids and families.  First Steps of Colleton County and local churches gave names of those in need to the Colleton Baptist Association.

Volunteers from our churches & youth groups, community individuals, CBA Men’s Ministry, and the CBA WMU met on Thursday, December 12th at Nova Church to pack food boxes with food purchased by the CBA and donations from Food Lion and Mrs. Samantha Lyons with the Lowcountry Food Bank. On Saturday, December 14th, Jennifer S Crosby, 16 year coordinator for the project’s operation, extensively prepared for the volunteers who arrived on the day of the project at Nova Church and then to shop at Walmart where a line was designated for the project and the toys and clothes were paid for with funds from donations and to help distribute toys and food boxes to families and our precious seniors: in all, about 187 children received toys and 101 families received food boxes.

For 35 years, the Colleton Baptist Association Christmas Project, which was started by its founder, Roland Marchant, has assisted thousands of families and children at Christmas time. This year was no different.

During the year, the CBA Men’s Ministry, headed by Pat Catterton coordinates Prayer Breakfast and Meetings where they collect donations for our Christmas Project.  On Dec. 7th, the Ace Basin Abate for 24 years, has adopted the CBA’s Christmas Project as its charity, making 2 toy ride one in July and one in December throughout the county to Barrel House Grill where they presented money and a trailer full of toys to Crosby, Catterton, and Rev. Ken McCaskill, the Director of Missions of the Colleton Baptist Association.

“I would like to say a huge Thank You for loving Colleton County’s children as much as we do, to the volunteers, the members of the Ace Basin Abate, the Barrell House Grill, IGA, Walmart, Food lion, First Steps, Lowcountry Food Bank, Nova Church, and local individuals and businesses, whom I wish I could list all of them, donated and for being long time partners in our mission to provide Christmas for our children of Colleton County and also, my family, Cameron and Courtney Crosby, Gabe Thomas and Haylee Carroll, the Catteron family: Pat, Joyce, Charity, Ronnie, and Matthew and Mrs. Sherry Siegler for sharing of yourself, time, and spreading God’s love for you and others.” said Crosby.
