A 16-year-old male received life threatening injuries in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Ritter Road and White Hall Road Wednesday Feb. 12 at 7:53 a.m.
Witnesses said the passenger car pulled into the path of an eastbound pickup truck which struck the car in the driver’s side. The boy was a rear-seat passenger in the car and was seated at the point of impact.
The injured teenager was treated at the scene by firefighter-paramedics, then transported by ambulance to the Pediatric Trauma Center at MUSC.
The driver of the pickup truck received minor injuries, as did the other two teenagers of the car, all of whom denied transport to the hospital.
The other teenagers were released to parents.
No medical helicopters could fly due to fog in the area.
The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
