The 12U S.C. Badkatz competed in the USSSA Southeast Slugfest held Saturday July 20 at the ACE Basin Sports Complex in Walterboro.
The team finished 1-3 on the day earning a 10-3 win over the Carolina Fire in the opening round of silver bracket competition. They lost to the Carolina Crushers (7-1), Charleston Shockers (5-4) and the Lady Rocks (5-3). T
hey are coached by Jess Mathys (Iowa State), Coach Mallory Crawford (Winthrop), Coach Teagan Crosby (Barton College) and Coach Kenny Thurston.
“Unfortunately, we came up short this weekend in the championship game. We have to work on not giving up the big inning. Overall, the girls are growing together as a team. The most rewarding part for a coach is watching these young ladies grow as athletes,” said Coach Mathys.
