Burglary suspect caught
On March 2 Walterboro Police officers and K-9 Officer Hydro responded to a report of a burglary on Sullivan’s Ferry Road.
Hydro tracked the man for about an eighth of a mile before turning into a swampy area, where the suspect’s camouflage jacket was found.
A short distance later, Hydro and the officer found the suspect hiding behind a tree. He was arrested by Colleton County Sheriff’s deputies.

Detergent pods reported taken
The manager of the Family Dollar on Robertson Boulevard reported an older black women grabbed three packets of All and Gain detergent pods and concealed them inside her jacket. She then left without paying on a white bicycle. The pods were valued at $16.

Stalking reported at Walmart
A woman reported a black male had been following her and making suspicious remarks while she was in Walmart. She said the man walked up to her and “told her she was beautiful and he meant her no harm,” the report said. She also said the same man did the same thing in Hampton and Beaufort.

Stabbing reported
Walterboro Police officers responded to a report of a stabbing on Carolina Lodge on Bells Highway on Feb. 28.
Officers said the man was bleeding profusely while holding a blood-soaked towel on the left side of his face.
The man told officers three men kicked in his hotel room door, attempted to rob him and allegedly cut his face with a kitchen-sized knife on his hip. He said he knew two of the suspects but did not know which one actually assaulted him.
The three suspects were seen leaving the motel in a black Volkswagen Beetle. Their entrance and exit were captured on video surveillance.
The man was transported by Colleton Fire-Rescue.

Assault reported at CCHS
An assault and battery, third degree, was reported at Colleton County High School on Feb. 20.
The event is under investigation.

Acid in gas tank
A resident of Pennsylvania Ave., Round O, reported Feb. 20 that someone put acid in the gas tank of his ATV.
The vehicle was parked under an open shed and wouldn’t crank. When the vehicle was taken to the mechanic, the mechanic said the acid had damaged the entire motor.


Mowers taken
The manager of a Hampton business reported Feb. 19 that a male caller, who identified himself as Thomas Garvin, agreed to purchase two Kubota zero-turn mowers from the business for $19,274.
The man said he was disabled and lived at 319 Seaton Hall Rd., Orangeburg, so he asked the mowers be delivered to 7193 Strickland Farm Rd., Williams. The mowers were delivered and a cashier’s check was given.
However, when the business tried to cash the check, they discovered the check was counterfeit.
Colleton County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to contact a Thomas Garvin in Orangeburg or Colleton County, but found the phone number he gave was no longer in service and no address existed in Orangeburg County.
Missing are a Kubota Model Z6227LA-60 and Kubota Model Z726XKW-2-60, each valued at $9,000.

Man arrested
on interstate
Terry Eugene Fraser Jr. was arrested on I-95 on Feb. 21, charged with driving under suspension (DUI-related), unlawful carrying of a handgun, reckless driving and domestic violence second degree.
A caller reported an erratic driver on I-95, traveling in speeds up to 100 mph in a green Ford Explorer. Deputies surrounded the vehicle and arrested Fraser. An inventory search of the vehicle reportedly revealed a .22 rifle and a .22 pistol hidden in a pocket on the back-passenger seat.
The domestic violence charges resulted from a visit with the man’s wife, who reportedly told officers she was in the process of seeking a divorce. She alleged Fraser had tried to cut her off in her car while she was attempting to pick up their daughter from school and pointed a gun at her. She said she feared for her and her daughter’s safety.

Weapon reported at CCMS
The unlawful possession of a weapon on school property was reported at Colleton County Middle School on Feb. 21.

A stranger in the laundry room
A Cane Branch Road resident came home on Feb. 23 to find a stranger sleeping in her laundry room. She called a family member who held the stranger at gunpoint until deputies arrived.
The suspect reportedly told deputies he believed he had made it home, but could now see that wasn’t the case.
He was arrested for disturbing the peace.

Man allegedly steals car
A woman reported Feb. 24 she was giving a man a ride toward Hollywood. However, she told deputies she had to drop him off early due to having an eye appointment.
The man then allegedly punched her passenger door and she stopped and told him to get out. He did, but he took her key fob with him and turned off the car, the report said. When the woman said she tried to retrieve the key fob, he reportedly grabbed her by her hoodie and drove off with the car, while she tried to hang onto the door.
Deputies caught up with the driver in the 8000 block of Charleston Highway. Kyriee Malik Franklin was arrested for grand larceny of a motor vehicle and driving under suspension, second offense.

Stabbing
on Sweat Street
Walterboro Police officers responded to 519 Sweat Street on Feb. 25 in response to a disturbance.
The victim told deputies the suspect had been “hanging out” the residence when a verbal argument started between the two. The victim said the suspect wanted a women to take him to an unknown location and the woman seemed afraid. The suspect then reportedly tried to force his way into the home and a fight ensued. A witness called 911.
During the argument, the victim received an injury to his neck, on his left side, his stomach and the underside of his forearm. He was transported by Fire-Rescue to Colleton Medical Center.
Officers reported damage inside the home and to the back door, as well as blood spatter on the floor and back porch.

 Paint Horse Lane, Walterboro, Feb. 21: Refrigerator, microwave, couch, chair, bed and mattress, drawers from chest of drawers and seat cushions from a camper.
 Jefferies Highway, Walterboro, Feb. 21: Catalytic converter taken from 2007 white Ford F150 on Monday Feb. 17. The incident was captured on surveillance footage.
 3396 Jefferies Hwy., Walterboro, Feb. 24: Catalytic converters from three vehicles: a 2004 Ford Escape, a 2005 Ford Freestar and a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe.
 McDanieltown Road, Ridgeville, Feb. 24: Play Station 4 with game Madden 2020, Night Owl DVR system for video surveillance, black .357 Glock Model 32 and .300 Springfield Saint Blk.
