Colleton Prep’s varsity volleyball team fell in four sets to region opponent John Paul II on Thursday Sept. 14 on the road. The Lady Hawks are now 5-1 overall and 1-1 in Region IV-AA.
In a best-of-four series, the Lady Hawks won the second set 26-24, but lost in three sets (25-23, 25-19, 25-17). Langley Harter had 13 kills and one ace in the game. Emily Wilson had four aces and one kill, while Weslin Jones had three aces and five kills. Ella Nolte had seven kills and an ace. Jessica Hughes had one ace and a single kill. Kenleigh Crosby had an ace.
“While we had a long time off due to the storm, I can’t use that as an excuse, because so did they,” said Coach Ashley Finney. “We played pretty physical, they just played better. Our offense was hit or miss all night. I did not expect to lose to this team and fully anticipate a win next time.”
The Lady Hawks were scheduled to travel to Patrick Henry Monday Sept. 18, host Beaufort Academy (region) Tuesday Sept. 19 and Thomas Heyward (region) Thursday Sept. 21.
