Man arrested for break-in
Walterboro police sent to check on an alarm at a Memorial Avenue business in the early morning of Sept. 22 apprehended the suspect.
When the alarm at Corbett Building Supply at 513 S. Memorial Drive went off at 12:04 a.m., officers silently made their way to the business. As they arrived, officers reportedly saw a suspect crossing the street headed toward the business. When the suspect noticed the officers, he attempted to escape on foot but fell to the ground. He got up, but was quickly back on the ground after being tackled by one of the officers.
Officers arrested the suspect, Thomas A. Chaplin, on charges of second-degree burglary and larceny from a building.

Naked man arrested
Deputies from the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office took an Islandton man into custody Sept. 19 at about 3 p.m. when they caught up with the disrobed suspect on Moselle Road.
Deputies were sent to the area of Moselle Road and Buckner Road to investigate reports of a man allegedly climbing onto a piece of construction equipment without permission and taking off his clothes. A group of men at the worksite pulled him off the tractor and he fled.
Officers began searching the area and were flagged down by a woman on Moselle Road — the naked man was reportedly standing in her yard. As the deputies pulled into the driveway, the naked man reportedly tried to run into the home but a man standing in front of the door was blocking his entrance. As the suspect continued to approach the door, the man punched him in the nose.
The deputies took over from there, apprehending the man, Shane J. Buckner, 29, of Islandton, and taking him to the detention center on a charge of indecent exposure.
