Walterboro police officers are investigating a domestic violence incident that occurred the evening of March 28 at a residence on Witsell Street.

The female resident contacted the police March 28 at 11:40 p.m., reporting that she had been the victim of an assault and possible burglary.

The woman told officers she had had a prior relationship with her attacker. She said he entered the apartment through a front window and followed her up the stairs to her bedroom as she attempted to elude him.

He then allegedly forced his way into the bedroom and began assaulting her, punching her in the face and pulling hair out of her head.

He then reportedly pulled a handgun and pointed at the woman.

When he pointed the handgun, she told police, the magazine came out of the weapon and fell to the floor. He picked up the magazine and fled.

The couple’s three children were asleep during the disturbance.
