Colleton County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Jesse Pringle brought along a number of other officers, including Sheriff Andy Strickland, to meet with Terri Silver, Save A Lot assistant manager, late Monday morning. The object of the visit was to collect the 223 bags of groceries customers purchased under Save A Lot’s “Bags for a Brighter Holiday Christmas” charitable project. Silver said that the Walterboro store had easily out-distanced the other stores in this region.  “The community support has been unreal. We tell them what we are doing and they just embrace it,” Silver added. Pringle said that the donations to Save A Lot will become part of the donations collected for the sheriff’s office’s Helping All Neighborhoods (HAN) Christmas project to provide a holiday dinner to needy families. Pringle said the project has grown every year since it began four years ago and he anticipates distributing the holiday cheer to over 150 county residents. Strickland said HAN is part of the sheriff office’s effort “to give back to our communities — that is exciting for us.”
