A Walterboro woman died Thursday evening when her motor vehicle went off the road and struck a tree.
Colleton County Coroner Richard Harvey said Carolyn Johnson, 54, of Ritter Road was pronounced dead at the scene following the crash.
Johnson was not wearing a seat belt, Harvey added. Her cause of death was multiple trauma.
Safety forces were called to the 5700 block of Green Pond Highway on Nov. 17 at 8:43 p.m. to handle the single-vehicle crash.
According to information provided by Lance Corporal Matt Southern, South Carolina Highway Patrol community relations officer for Troop Six, Johnson was driving her 2001 Nissan Maxima north on Green Pond Highway when she went off the left side of the road and struck a tree.
