Kara Fargnoli won the Speuter Essay Contest in the recent FoCCAS (Friends of the Colleton County Animal Shelter) pet care class held for the fourth grade at Colleton Preparatory Academy.
Her essay follows:
“The reason pets should be spayed or neutered is because some owners do not want their pets to have babies. If the pet does have babies, then the owner will seel then and there will be a bid chance of them all not being wanted. Then the owner brings them to the animal shelter and that will bring a huge population in the animal shelter so then the workers would have no choice but to put them down.
“If you do not get your pet spayed or neutered it can make disasters of the pet. The female can get breast cancer and uterine infections. The male can get cancer too. It is not bad for the dog. It can mess up their ability to work and play. It is very good for a dog to be spayed or neutered so they can have a healthy life. That is why you pet should be spayed or neutered.”
