Allyn Wiggins, a senior at Colleton County High School and member of the Lady Cougar Soccer team, has been named to the 2016 Clash of the Carolinas. She is the first player in Colleton County High School’s history to be selected for this honor.
Wiggins committed to play soccer for the Furman University Paladins in 2015 and signed her National Letter of Intent on February 3, 2016. She hopes to contribute as a midfielder for the Paladins, who compete in Division I within the Southern Conference (SoCon).
Founded in 2007, the Clash of the Carolinas is the nation’s only prep soccer All-Star event and is the equivalent of the annual Shrine Bowl. The match will pit the top-18 players from South Carolina against the North Carolina team.
The 2016 Clash of the Carolinas will be played on Saturday, July 9 at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh, N.C., at 12 noon.
Currently ranked at No. 4 in her class and carrying a GPA of 4.87, Wiggins intends to pursue an undergraduate degree in biology. She is the daughter of Deana and Daniel Wiggins of Walterboro and granddaughter of Alford and Betty Wiggins.
